Matthew 5: 14-16 "You are like light for the whole
world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts
it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light
for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before
people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father
(Soft Evangelism program prepares and develops your heart to grow in God's Grace and Knowledge.)
First Step, In every conversation that you have, always
end it with a blessing from God.
a. It can be as simple as saying, "God Bless".
b. Or you can recite a simple doxology.
Galatians. 6:18 "May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit always."
2 Corinthians. 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you always."
c. My personal favorite is
Numbers 6:24 "May the Lord bless you and keep you;"
IF you start ending every conversation with a blessing you will notice that within a few months, your life will have changed. This is the first step in preparing yourself to become an "true disciple" for Christ Jesus. It may seem like such a small thing to do, but it is the most important step in the process.
Note: As days pass, you will find that the way you communicate will change to accommodate the doxology or the simple "God Bless". You will also find in time, your friends and neighbors will see a difference in you and you in them.
Hebrews 10: 24-25 "Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
Second Step, Assess Their Response
when you recite God's blessing to someone, you will normally get one of these three different response.
1. Thank You and/or The person resights the blessing back to you.
Normally, this response comes from a fellow Christian. Startup a conversation by asking a question, "which church do you attend". If they are not attending any church, then invite them to your church. If they are attending a church, it is best not to promote your church. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct both of you. Good News, most of the time you have been blessed with a new friend, congratulations.
2. No Response.
If you get no response and/or a stare, it usually means that you caught them off guard or they do not want any conversation. It is best not to say anything more with the understanding that the work of the Holy Spirit is not complete. However, next time you see them, repeat the blessing and observe the response.
3. Any cordial response including, I don't Believe.
This is where you repeat this Commitment Statement listed below.
"From the beginning of creation, God placed each one of us here
to make a decision to either accept Christ Jesus as Lord and
Savior and spend eternity with Him or deny
Him and live out eternity void/absent of God and the love that he
bestows. "Are you ready to choose?"
1John 4:7-9 "Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him."
1. Yes/I choose Christ Jesus
Ask them to recite a prayer after you to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Use the prayer below as a standard or example, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Note; You should always break up the pray so that it will be easier for them to recite. Use the punctuation in the prayer listed below as a guideline.
Dear Christ Jesus,
I accept You as my lord and savior, I ask you to come into my heart, change and mold me so that I will be in harmony with you. I ask you to replace my will and wants with yours, use me for whatever purpose you have for me. Thank you Christ Jesus for loving me and being my savior, Amen.
a. After praying, congratulate them for choosing to follow
Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
a. Ask them if they have a bible, if they don't have a bible, then buy them one. Note: Most churches have spare bibles to give out. Just ask your pastor for one.
b. Invite them to your church, make follow-ups for encouragement.
c. Inform your pastor so that he can also follow up and encourage.
2. NO or any non-cordial response.
If they say "NO", then realize that the work of the Holy Sprit is not finished or that their heart is cold to the calling. Always be polite and if appropriate tell them that you will pray that someday they will make a decision to follow Christ Jesus. NEVER, get into an argument, your calling is not to offend, but to promote the calling of the Holy Spirit.
If they say "Maybe", then realize that the work of the Holy Spirit is still at work in their life. Tell them that you will pray that the Holy Spirit will bring them to the realization That God loves them more then they can ever comprehend and wants to have a relationship with them. Follow-up when ever appropriate.
2Timothy 4:2 "preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove,
rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction."
